Journals

Penn Law has a proud tradition of excellent journal scholarship.

Academically Recognized Journals

Penn Law has sixrecognized journals; students selected to membership in these journals may receive course credit for their work. These five journals are: the University of Pennsylvania Law Review; the University of Pennsylvania Journal of Business Law; the University of Pennsylvania Journal of Constitutional Law; the University of Pennsylvania Journal of International Law; University of Pennsylvania Journal of Law and Social Change and the East Asia Law Review.

Selection to Membership

Penn Law JD students interested in serving on one of the officially sanctioned journals compete in a competition held following the final examination period at the end of the first year. Selection to most of the journals are based on a pre-determined formula, ranking performance on the competition and other factors, including a statement of interest.

A certain number of slots are also made available to transfer students. These students compete at the beginning of their first term at the Law School.
