Boys’ Latin Students Visit Penn Law

Eighteen students at Boys’ Latin visited Penn Law on Thursday, November 18. BLSA volunteers lunched with the students and discussed their legal experiences and law school. Professor Regina Austin has kindly opened her torts class to the Boys’ Latin students who got an opportunity to speak with her after the class. Their day ended with a tour of the undergraduate campus where we hope to see some of the Boys’ Latin graduates in the future! Thank you to Drew Shoals and BLSA for sponsoring this fantastic event.

UPDATE: Professor Austin did a fantastic job of welcoming the Boys’ Latin students to Penn. She engaged them in a debate with her torts class on whether Four Loko is a defective product. The boys made tremendous arguments and left a great impression on the law students.

Clinic Referral Night

Penn Law students will met with parents at Boys’ Latin Charter School on Wednesday, September 29. Volunteers directed parents to legal resources and discuss what their children will be doing this year in mock trial, student government and debate. Our thanks to Arlene for serving as our supervising attorney.

Successful Orientation Service Event at Boys’ Latin

Legal Education Partnership is pleased to welcome incoming students to Penn Law! Members of the Penn Law class of 2013 worked with students at Boys’ Latin to clean up the neighborhood. Law students enjoyed meeting their new colleagues and students at the west Philadelphia charter school. The project successfully cleaned the neighborhood surrounding the school from 53rd through 57th streets, including the site where a new high school will be built later this year. It was an excellent beginning to a new semester, and we look forward to more successful events with Boys’ Latin. Thank you to all the volunteers.
