Nikki Herst-Cook L’13

Nikki is a public defender at the Alternate Public Defender’s Office in Los Angeles. She previously worked as a public defender at the Legal Aid Society in New York and as a staff attorney and policy advocate at Loyola Project for the Innocent at Loyola Law School in Los Angeles. She volunteered with the Parole Preparation Project in New York and the District Attorney Accountability Coalition in Los Angeles. During law school, Nikki participated in S.T.A.R., a federal reentry court, the Prisoner Education and Advocacy Project, the Criminal Defense Clinic, Transnational Legal Clinic. She also interned with the San Francisco Public Defender’s Office and with a human rights law practice in Gaborone, Botswana.

Prior to law school, Nikki was a paralegal at the Federal Defenders of New York and worked at an environmental law and policy NGO in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
