Hometown: Guatemala City, Guatemala
Prior Education: LLB, Universidad Francisco Marroquin
What I did before Law School: I interned at the legal department of a Guatemalan construction materials manufacturer and development company. Later, I worked as a corporate lawyer at a boutique law firm for over three years focusing on corporate structures, transactional law, and estate planning.
Why I chose Penn Law: Because of the interdisciplinary approach to legal studies, richness in curriculum, prestige of legal scholars, and the collaborative atmosphere, as well as the Wharton Business and Law Certificate.
My best experience at Penn Law: Getting to know an extraordinary group of colleagues and legal scholars; meeting Supreme Court Justice Antony Kennedy; the Penn Law v. Wharton Fight Night, Barrister’s and Graduation Ball, and the Job fair and LLM Reception at Penn Club in New York.
My favorite course: Global Strategic Management (WBLC), Problems in Law and Morality.
My favorite Philadelphia moment: Exploring Philly Food Festivals, the Phillies’ games and the Philadelphia Marathon.
What I am most proud of: Being able to design and teach a course at Penn Law, “Spanish for the Legal Professional Boot Camp”; completing the Wharton Business and Law Certificate, having volunteered as a translator for non-English speaking clients and completing over 60 hours of pro bono work.
My extracurricular activities at Penn Law: Latino Law Students Association (LALSA).
My favorite place of activity on the University Campus: The Courtyard at Penn Law, Locust Walk, Franklin Field.
