Andres Iglesias Marujo

Hometown:

Sao Paulo, Brazil

Class Year:

LLM 2012

Prior Education:

Bachelor of Laws, Class of 2010, Faculdade de Direito da Universidade de Sao Paulo

What I Did Before Law School:

Corporate and M&A associate at Mattos Filho, Veiga Filho, Marrey Jr. e Quiroga Advogados

Why I Chose Penn Law:

I chose Penn Law for its preeminence as an Ivy League school and also to take advantage of the dual degree offered with Wharton.

My Best Experience at Penn Law:

Honestly, several enjoyable happy hours, dinners, pubs, lunches, trips. I will definitely walk out from Penn Law with a very strong sense of friendship and community. I have very much enjoyed my time here and I have mainly my fellow LL.M.s., J.D.s and professors to thank for that.

Professor Who Influenced Me Most:

Professor Michael Wachter, for introducing me to the Socratic Method.

My Favorite Course:

Cross Border M&A, with Professor George Casey. Taught as a seminar, this course covers a lot of stimulating and noteworthy material for US and non US lawyers, as well as provides interesting pointers for practicing attorneys.

My Favorite Philadelphia Moment:

Walking three blocks to a Joshua Redman /Brad Mehldau concert held at the Annenberg Center. I found Philadelphia to be the perfect city for an LL.M., combining the metropolitan environment with an unbelievably beautiful university campus.

What I’m Most Proud Of:

Being accepted in such a prestigious university such as Penn. Never had so many congratulations in one day.

My Extracurricular Activities at Penn Law:

JD/MBA club
LL.M. soccer club

My Favorite Place or Activity on the University Campus:

Definitely Penn field, either for the soccer fields or tennis courts. Very good for picnics too.
