Brian Thomas L’24

Brian was born and raised in West Chester, PA. He graduated from Ursinus College where he majored in English and Politics.

While in college, he began teaching music to teenagers incarcerated in Philadelphia’s adult jails with Beyond the Bars, a nonprofit he helped build with friends from the local music scene. After graduating, he moved to Philadelphia where he worked in medical publishing during the day and continued volunteering with Beyond the Bars before returning to school.

At Penn Carey Law, Brian is on the board of the Youth Advocacy Project and is an incoming Associate Editor for the Journal of Law and Social Change. He spent his 1L summer with the Pennsylvania Institutional Law Project, an organization that provides free civil legal services to indigent incarcerated people across the state. He hopes to build a legal career in Philly that helps his neighbors fight for a more just and peaceful future.

In his free time, he enjoys watching the Sixers, playing guitar, reading novels, and chatting with strangers as he meanders around the city.
