Yasmine Seghir L’25

Yasmine grew up in Central Massachusetts and attended Vassar College. Her studies in Political Science sparked her interest in getting directly involved with movements to effect change. This led her to immigrant justice work during her senior year when Yasmine worked alongside organizers to pass the Green Light Law in New York State. After college, she was awarded a US-UK Fulbright Scholarship to obtain an MA in International Politics at Aberystwyth University.

After her Fulbright, Yasmine did one year with AmeriCorps in D.C., working as a case manager at a transitional housing program for immigrant and refugee families. She then spent two years before law school as a family advocate at the Center for Family Representation in New York City where she worked on teams with attorneys and parents to defend parental rights in the family policing system. Her experience working directly with those systematically impacted by the law propelled her desire to obtain a legal degree.

As a Penn Carey Law student and as an attorney, Yasmine’s work will be directed by the expressed needs and goals of the individuals, families, and communities she serves.
