Julia Kerbs L’24
Originally from Sacramento, CA, Julia Kerbs received her BA from Georgetown University, where she studied French and Government. Prior to beginning her JD at Penn Carey Law, Julia received a Fulbright grant to research barriers to public housing access for people leaving jails and prisons in Paris, France. She later worked as a Corrections Specialist paralegal at a public defender office in New York City, where she assisted clients incarcerated on Rikers Island with issues related to confinement conditions. Julia plans to continue her criminal justice reform advocacy by pursuing a legal career in indigent client representation and impact litigation.
At Penn Carey Law, Julia serves as a Student Leader of the Pardon Project, and as Co-President of the Penn Graduate Boxing Club. She recently joined the Journal of Law and Public Affairs as an Associate Editor.
During her 1L summer, Julia interned at the Quattrone Center for the Fair Administration of Justice, where she contributed to research on wrongful convictions and other systemic criminal justice errors.
