Laura Hannon L’24, SP2’24

Laura Hannon L’24, SP2’24 was born and raised in Idaho and came to Penn Carey Law with a desire to learn about antidiscrimination and civil rights law.

She graduated from the University of Idaho with degrees in Psychology and Public Relations, and a minor in Political Science. Throughout college, she worked for Idaho’s Center on Disabilities and Human Development and was an active member of student government. In these positions, she advocated for students and community members by leading initiatives for accessible mental health services, researching and lobbying for mandatory inclusivity training, and canvasing for healthcare expansion. Laura was an intern for the Idaho Human Rights Commission, where she helped Idahoans who had been discriminated against begin civil rights investigations.

Since graduating, Laura has been an election campaign manager and an intern in the US Senate. These positions allowed her to explore her passion for equity in healthcare, education, and employment access. She hopes to use her law degree to work on legislation and policy that advances civil rights. At Penn Carey Law, Laura is on the board of If/When/How and the Student Public Interest Network. She is proud to be a member of Penn Carey Law’s public interest community and looks forward to growing and learning as an advocate and a student.
