Our 2019 Exoneree Fellow was Eugene Gilyard

Eugene Gilyard is a lifelong Philadelphia resident. At the age of 18, he was arrested, tried, convicted, and imprisoned for a murder he did not commit. Through nearly 16 years of work and dedication, Mr. Gilyard was able to secure his release when the true perpetrator of the murder confessed to having committed the crime, and that Mr. Gilyard played no role. Since his release, Mr. Gilyard has worked at Humphrys CoverSports, a manufacturing company of sports products located in Philadelphia. He first joined the company in the role of an entry level position and now works in management. He is working toward a degree in business management, he is in his final semester, and lives with his beautiful wife and three children.
