Jenan Abu Shtaya

Jenan Joined the SJD program in 2021, after graduating from the LLM program at Penn Carey Law in 2020 as a Fulbright scholar.

During her LLM studies, Jenan served as an associate editor in the Journal of Law and Social Change, where she had the opportunity to edit along with her LLM classmates a special issue regarding technology and social transformation. She also volunteered in the International Human Rights Advocates Project at Penn and participated in conducting legal research about an international human rights crisis.

Jenan received her LLB degree from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem in 2018. During her studies at the Hebrew University, Jenan worked as a teaching and research assistant in various fields such as jurisprudence, legal systems, and Islamic law. Jenan also volunteered in several arenas: she joined the Ambitions Forum; a forum that encourages excellence among Arab Law Students as a council member, later got promoted to chairwoman, and volunteered in the Equal Opportunities Program. Upon completing the LLB degree, Jenan worked at Agmon & Co. Rosenberg HaCohen & Co. Law Firm, as a legal intern and later as an advocate, in the planning and construction department.
