After graduating from Georgetown University, Nicole returned to her home state of Arizona where she became immersed in community organizing for environmental and progressive campaigns with the Arizona League of Conservation Voters and the Arizona Democratic Party. Following the 2010 election cycle, Nicole pursued her passion for activating civic leaders and joined the team of Washington, D.C.-based start-up, Citizen Effect. During her time as Citizen Effect’s Strategic Initiatives Manager, Nicole led the launch of the organization’s first domestic initiative, Detroit4Detroit, and developed a network of Detroiters committed to fundraising for 150 critical community projects across their city.

Nicole’s experience working with Citizen Effect’s national network of citizen fundraisers and sixty nonprofit partners convinced her of the need for rethinking the traditional nonprofit model. Since then, Nicole has sought to incentivize citizens to apply entrepreneurial problem-solving to local needs as a Fellow with Social Ventures Partner of Arizona. She is thrilled to be joining the Penn Law community and looks forward to developing the skills to become an advocate for social innovation in Philadelphia.
