What I Did Before Law School:
I practiced law as an associate in a law firm in Mexico City, focusing in corporate law, M&A, project finance, secured transactions, foreign investment regulation and mining.
Why I Chose Penn Law:
Of course the Ivy League brand and its tradition as a top law school cannot pass unperceived; however, as a student that wanted to focus on corporate and business law, the two crucial factors were the impressive credentials of the faculty dedicated to these areas and the cross-disciplinary opportunities which allow you to give a broader approach to your studies.
My Best Experience at Penn Law:
The summer program. It is definitely a great time in which you can enjoy a lonely Law School, you start to be familiar with the entire campus and most importantly, it is a unique time in which you get to bond with your LLM classmates.
Professor Who Influenced Me Most:
Professor Michael L. Wachter. His passion and commitment to teaching corporations law is really inspiring. Even when he relies most of the time in the Socratic method, he has the ability and charisma to transmit very complex concepts in a comprehensible and effective way.
My Favorite Course:
Corporations. It is really interesting to see how modern corporate law has been shaped mostly by the courts, especially the ones from Delaware. It also allowed me to compare and contrast the principles and policy taught in class against the ones followed by a Corporations Law developed in a civil law system.
My Favorite Philadelphia Moment:
Riding my bike to school every day (except in the really cold ones).
What I’m Most Proud Of:
Having the ability to leave the cultural, language and personal barriers behind and being able to succeed personally and academically in an international community, while making solid friendship relations.
My Extracurricular Activities at Penn Law:
Associate Editor for the East Asia Law Review. Research Assistant to Prof. Mauro Guillen at Wharton.
My Favorite Place or Activity on the University Campus:
Grab a coffee and take some time to walk on Locust Walk.
