Merle J. Slyhoff
Collection Development Librarian
Merle Slyhoff is the Collection Development Librarian at the Biddle Law Library. She is responsible for the selection of U.S. titles added to the collection, collection assessment in U.S. law as well as other non-collection development responsibilities. During her time at Biddle, she has overseen interlibrary loan, faculty document delivery and acquisitions, as well as serving on numerous Biddle teams and committees. Merle has a long career of service to the national organizations the American Association of Law Libraries (AALL), having served on the Executive Board and as chair of many committees; the law library consortium NELLCO where she chaired a number of sections; the local AALL chapter the Greater Philadelphia Law Library Association, having served twice as President; and numerous committees in the American Library Association. She has been inducted into the American Association of Law Libraries Hall of Fame, received the American Association of Law Libraries Academic Law Libraries Special Interest Section Outstanding Service Award and the American Libraries Association’s Association of College and Research Libraries Marta Lange Award for her contributions in the area of law. She has written on collection development, media in law libraries, interlibrary loan and document delivery among other law library-related issues and has been a speaker on collection development, law school journals and the library, interlibrary loan and document delivery and media in law libraries.
