Deborah Winokur

Adjunct Professor of Law

Deborah A. Winokur serves as Conflicts Counsel at Cozen & O’Connor.  Prior to joining Cozen, she waas Professional Responsibility Counsel in the Office of General Counsel at Polsinelli PC. Ms. Winokur assures the firm’s adherence to ethical standards and compliance with firm policies with particular emphasis on lateral recruitment and integration.

Earlier in her practice, Ms. Winokur worked as a senior associate in both the corporate and trial departments at Dechert LLP. Ms. Winokur advised clients on regulatory and compliance issues. Ms. Winokur has handled pro bono representations, including representing clients through the Defender Association of Philadelphia (successfully reducing death penalty sentence to life sentence for a mentally impaired capital prisoner in post-conviction proceedings), Campaign for Working Families Tax Clinic, Volunteers for the Indigent Program and Homeless Advocacy Project.

Ms. Winokur is Co-Chair of the Professional Responsibility Committee and a member of the Professional Guidance Committee of the Philadelphia Bar Association and conducts Continuing Legal Education seminars on risk management and ethics issues.

Ms. Winokur is a 1999 graduate of the Columbia University School of Law, where she was on the staff of the Columbia Journal of Environmental Law, and a graduate, cum laude, of the University of Pennsylvania (BA, Urban Studies).
