Kyra McGrath L’81

Kyra McGrath serves as Executive Vice President/President, New Ventures and Enterprises for WHYY, Inc, the public media entity serving Southeastern Pennsylvania, Delaware and Southern New Jersey, which provides the community with informative and entertaining in-depth programming on multiple platforms: radio (WHYY-FM in Philadelphia and Cape May Courthouse, Atlantic City, Manahawkin, Berlin and Bridgeton, NJ), television (WHYY-TV, WHYY Kids and Y2), and online at, and, as well as through live events.

As Executive Vice President and President, New Ventures and Enterprises, she is primarily responsible for ensuring that WHYY is maximizing the use of its content, technology and real estate assets by creating new sources of revenue that can be used for additional programming to serve WHYY’s audiences. She also serves as Assistant Secretary of the Board of Directors. Prior to her current role, she served as Chief Operating Officer, and also Vice President for Strategic Projects and General Counsel.

Ms. McGrath currently serves on the board of PRX, a national distributor of on air and online digital audio content, where she chairs the Governance Committee, and the Station Resource Group, a national organization of public radio stations, where she serves as Vice Chair. She is also Chair of the Advisory Board for the Salvation Army’s Ray and Joan Kroc Community Center, and is a former Chair of the Philadelphia Division of the Salvation Army. Ms. McGrath is a past President of the Forum of Executive Women, a network of the region’s top 600 women executives.

Ms. McGrath has received a number of awards, including the Women of Distinction award from The Philadelphia Business Journal; the Take the Lead Award from the Girl Scouts of Southeastern Pennsylvania; the Trailblazers Award from Pathways PA; and Smart CEO’s Brava Award. New York City’s Irish Voice newspaper also named her one of the 75 most influential Irish-American businesswomen in the United States.

The Pittsburgh, PA native received her B.A. from Penn State and her J.D. from the University of Pennsylvania Carey Law School.
