Andra Metcalfe L’25

Andra was born and raised in Denver, Colorado, and studied Sociology at Colorado College in Colorado Springs. During college, she completed a semester-long program in the Twin Cities area titled “Inequality in America,” where she worked at a renter’s legal advocacy nonprofit and learned from local community organizers about the vast historical and contemporary mechanisms used to perpetuate systems of intentional inequality. Drawing on this experience, Andra spent her summers in college working full-time at legal nonprofits, including The Colorado Center on Law and Policy and ACLU of Colorado. Andra also worked as the Assistant Director of Community Partnerships for her college’s Collaborative for Community Engagement office, where she had the opportunity to be involved with over 30+ local nonprofit efforts. In addition to her work experience, Andra is a passionate disability advocate; during undergrad she served on her college’s accessibility resources leadership council and helped to create an affinity group for students with disabilities.

At Penn Carey Law, Andra serves as Vice President of DALSA, Political Director for Lambda, and is a board member for National Lawyers Guild. She is also an Associate Editor on the Journal of Law and Social Change and a serving member of the Penn Housing Rights and If/When/How pro bono projects. During her 1L summer, she worked at Philadelphia Legal Assistance in the consumer housing unit. Beyond school, Andra enjoys weight lifting, playing the piano, going to concerts, and being the most mediocre bowler in the Penn Carey Law Bowling League.
