Eran I. Globus

Eran I. Globus joined the Penn Carey Law S.J.D. program in 2023, after graduating from the LLM program in 2022. He holds an LLB and a BA in government, both from Reichman University.

Globus’s research interests include privacy, law & technology, human rights, LGBTQ+ rights, governance, citizenship, legal history, law and philosophy, and ethics, particularly of communities and digital societies.

At Penn Carey Law, Globus is working on a two-part research project. His first objective is to model power systems and structures in a digital era. His second objective is to apply this model to an LGBTQ+ context, using legal and regulatory mechanisms to safeguard and advance queer rights. In particular, Globus’s research addresses risks and opportunities associated with technologies like artificial intelligence, virtual and augmented reality (VR/AR), and wearables. His advisor at Penn Carey Law is Professor Anita L. Allen.

In addition to his academic pursuits, Globus is an accomplished leader in Israeli society. He is currently the deputy chairman of the LGBTQ+ Rights Committee of the Israeli Bar Association. He is also a graduate associate (2022-2024) at Perry World House, Penn’s global policy hub.

Prior to Penn, Globus served as a litigation associate at Meitar Law Offices, Israel’s leading law firm, and as the executive chairperson of Jerusalem Open House for Pride and Tolerance. He routinely advises Israeli officials and leaders on LGBTQ+ policy. He is a founding member of the inaugural “Council of Consents,” a joint initiative of The Israeli Congress and The Center for Jewish and Democratic Law at Bar-Ilan University.
