Gabriel Dell L’26

Gabe is originally from Michigan and graduated from the University of Michigan in 2017 with a degree in Public Policy. During his undergraduate years, Gabe helped found and run the Michigan Refugee Assistance Program, a student organization that provides support to locally resettled refugees through student advocacy, fundraising, and direct volunteer work. He also was involved in student government and served as a teaching assistant for an experiential course exploring Michigan’s criminal justice system. During summers, Gabe interned for the ACLU of Southern California, the Detroit Mayor’s Office, and a government relations consulting firm for the health care industry.

Since 2013, Gabe has been involved with the Journal of Young Investigators, a peer-reviewed research journal that offers science research and journal administration opportunities to undergraduates. He held various positions on the journal’s undergraduate executive board from 2013 to 2017 and has served as a member of the board of directors since 2019.

After graduating, Gabe relocated to Washington, DC, where he initially worked as a partisan opposition researcher. He then transitioned to a role at American Oversight, a public records-driven government ethics oversight organization. During his time at American Oversight, Gabe developed a strong interest in democracy protection work and established collaborative relationships with various national and local voting rights groups.

At the University of Pennsylvania Carey Law School, Gabe aims to further develop his voting rights competencies and explore innovative approaches to safeguarding the nation’s electorate and voting infrastructure in the face of mounting challenges to democracy.
