Suthiphon Thaveechaiyagarn was appointed as Secretary-General for the Office of the Insurance Commission (OIC) in October 2015. The OIC is Thailand’s insurance regulator, and operates under the supervision of the Thai Ministry of Finance.
Dr. Thaveechaiyagarn was previously a member of the State Audit Commission, a standing committee member of the ASEAN Law Association Thailand, and chairman of the subcommittee considering rectification of the Constitution. In 2011, he was appointed to head Thailand’s telecommunications regulatory regime as the Commissioner of the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC). Prior to this, he worked in judicial and regulatory offices - serving as a judge for over ten years, as well as with the Secretariat of the Election Commission of Thailand. Thaveechaiyagarn has also held positions within the Ministry of Commerce, actively participating in WTO trade negotiations in Geneva, Switzerland.
After graduating with a BA in law (Honors) from Thammasat University, Suthiphon Thaveechayagarn was awarded an Anandhamahidol Fellowship (King’s Scholarship) to pursue an LL.M. from Harvard University, and an LL.M. and a S.J.D. from the University of Pennsylvania.
