Susan Pologruto, L’03

Senior Democracy Advisor, USAID Bureau for Food Security

Susan Pologruto is a Senior Democracy Advisor for USAID’s Bureau for Food Security, where she leads the effort to implement ‘Feed the Future’ projects to end hunger, poverty, and malnutrition. She also drives the implementation of the ‘Civil Society Action Plan’ to strengthen and increase civil society engagement within the U.S. government’s flagship food security initiative.

Susan Pologruto joined USAID in 2003 as a Presidential Management Fellow in the Bureau for Democracy, Conflict and Humanitarian Assistance.  In this capacity, she managed the Complex Crisis Fund to provide support and resources to mission-critical international development programs. She later served as a Rule of Law Advisor in USAID’s Democracy and Governance Office, where she designed projects and developed the rule of law training curriculum.

Prior to joining USAID, Pologruto worked with various at-risk populations including refugees, those affected by HIV/AIDS, and victims of violent crimes.  In addition to her JD, she also earned a Masters of Social Work from the University of Pennsylvania.
