Steven Mills L’19 and Greta Wiessner L’19 win 2019 Keedy Cup

The four finalists argued New Prime, Inc. v. Oliveira, a pending Supreme Court case testing whether a court or an arbitrator is the appropriate body to decide whether the Federal Arbitration Act (FAA) applies to a contract, and whether Section 1 of the FAA applies to independent contractor relationships.

Steven Mills L’19 and Greta Wiessner L’19 were named the winners of this year’s Edwin R. Keedy Cup, Penn Law’s internal moot court competition. In addition, Greta Wiessner L’19 was also named Best Oralist.

Charles Nary was born and raised in Linden, New Jersey. He graduated summa cum laude from Rutgers University with degrees in Economics and Political Science. At Penn Law, he is the Vice President for External Affairs of the Penn Law Federalist Society and the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Constitutional Law. After graduation, Charles will clerk for the Honorable Kim R. Gibson of the United States District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania before joining the New York office of Kirkland & Ellis.

Patrick Reischl was born and raised in Long Beach, California. He graduated from the University of California, San Diego, where he studied economics and managed a satire newspaper. Before returning to school, Patrick worked in government affairs for an electric utility. At Penn Law, he is a Comments Editor for the University of Pennsylvania Law Review, a Littleton Fellow, a member of the Federal Appellate Externship, and Co-Commissioner of the Penn Law Bowling League. After graduation, Patrick will join the Palo Alto office of Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher.

Steven Mills was born and raised in San Leandro, California. He graduated with High Distinction from U.C. Berkeley, where he was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. At Penn Law, he is a co-founder of the First Generation Professionals group, participant and coach of the Williams Institute Moot Court on gender and sexual orientation law, and an Executive Editor for the Journal of Constitutional Law. After graduation, Steven will join the San Francisco litigation department of Morrison & Foerster.

Greta Wiessner is a Twin Cities native and proud Minnesotan. Greta attended Boston College and graduated summa cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in international politics and communications. After college, she taught fifth grade in Dallas-Fort Worth with Teach for America. At Penn Law, Greta served as client services director of the Penn Law Immigrant Rights Project, is a senior editor on the University of Pennsylvania Law Review, and is a Toll Public Interest Fellow. After graduation, Greta will clerk for the Honorable Theodore McKee of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit and the Honorable Wendy Beetlestone of the U.S. District Court of the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.
