Prof. Burke-White analyzes the latest BREXIT vote
On Tuesday, January 15, 2019 British lawmakers voted to reject the withdrawal of the United Kingdom from the European Union. Professor William Burke-White offers his reaction to the results and examines possible next steps.
“The crushing defeat of PM May’s Brexit deal reveals the deep divides within the British government over the future direction of the UK. Under EU rules, May must now either run the real prospect of a no-deal BREXIT in March or ask the EU for more time. Given her incredibly weak position at the moment, she may be forced to propose a second referendum or even seek a national election.”
