Penn’s Benefits Open Enrollment - Important Changes for 2018-2019

April 27, 2018

Penn’s Benefits Open Enrollment is here and we have great news! This Open Enrollment season, there will be no increase in medical rates for the 2018-2019 plan year. Rates will remain flat, so if you stay with the same medical plan, the costs will not go up. There are other favorable plan changes for the upcoming plan year that you can find on the Human Resources website at www.hr.upenn.edu/openenrollment, so please review carefully when considering your benefits needs.

Open Enrollment is your annual opportunity to make changes to your healthcare elections – your medical, dental, vision, prescription, and life insurance benefits. You can select the plans that work best for you and your family. This year’s Benefits Open Enrollment period runs from Monday, April 23 through Friday, May 4.

How Do I Make Benefit Changes During Open Enrollment?

During Open Enrollment, you can make changes to your benefits coverage 24 hours a day, 7 days a week online at Penn’s secure Benefits Enrollment website. You will need your PennKey and password to access the site.

Plan Changes as of July 1, 2018

Please note that there are several changes for the coming plan year. Be sure to review the complete list of changes at www.hr.upenn.edu/openenrollment so you can determine what healthcare options will work best for you in the new plan year, beginning July 1.

After You Enroll

After Open Enrollment ends, you will receive a confirmation statement of your elections. Your new payroll deductions will begin in July. Your pay must support your contributions for the benefits elected. If that is not the case, then your enrollment cannot be processed.

Learn More at the Open Enrollment and Wellness Fairs

At these fairs representatives from Penn’s healthcare providers and administrators will be onsite to share information. Learn about medical plans, prescription drug coverage, dental plans, vision coverage, flexible spending accounts, and the Penn Benefits Center. You can also take advantage of free health screenings and other wellness activities.
