Though Penn Law’s Leo Model Foundation Government Service & Public Affairs Initiative, students will have the opportunity to meet with two of the program’s Visiting Policy Fellows, Shira Perlmutter L’83 and Nancy Nord in a series of upcoming career lunches.

Though Penn Law’s Leo Model Foundation Government Service & Public Affairs Initiative, students will have the opportunity to meet with two of the program’s Visiting Policy Fellows, Shira Perlmutter L’83 and Nancy Nord in a series of upcoming career lunches.

The Visiting Policy Fellows are current and former government officials, policy makers, and lawyers who enrich the intellectual life of the Penn Law community by teaching seminars, delivering guest lectures, and participating in career conversations with students.

Policy Fellow Shira Perlmutter is the Chief Policy Officer and Director for International Affairs at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. In that position, she serves as a policy advisor to the Under Secretary of Commerce for Intellectual Property and oversees the USPTO’s domestic and international IP policy activities, legislative engagement, education and training, global advocacy, and economic analysis.    

Distinguished Policy Fellow Nancy Nord completed an eight-year term as a Commissioner on the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, serving from 2005 through 2013 and is now with OFW Law. She was Acting Chairman of the CPSC from July 2006 until June 2009. She has held a number of legal positions in the federal government and the private sector. She served as the General Counsel of the White House Council on Environmental Quality and as counsel to the Energy and Commerce Committee of the U.S. House of Representatives. In the private sector, she was the Director of Federal Affairs for the Eastman Kodak Company and Director of Consumer Affairs for the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.
