Reunion Weekend 2016
May 13–14, 2016: Reunion Weekend 2016 drew over 700 Penn Law alumni and their guests to Philadelphia to reminisce, celebrate, and make new memories with their classmates. The Classes of 1951, 1956, 1961, 1966, 1971, 1976, 1981, 1986, 1991, 1996, 2001, 2006, and 2011 were welcomed back to campus for a range of exciting events.
From the Senior Partners Luncheon and Professor Mitchell Berman’s CLE program to the LLM Lunch and Barnes Foundation visits, Friday was a busy day for returning alums. The classes reconvened in the halls of Penn Law in the evening to catch up over food and drinks at the Reunion Class Cocktail Receptions. To cap off the night, the Class of 2011 attended a festive after-party in the Courtyard, finally enjoying the beautifully renovated space after studying through a period of construction!
Two CLE panel discussions kicked off the day’s events on Saturday morning. Penn professor Michael Weisberg and Eric Rothschild L’93 looked back at Kitzmiller v. Dover Area School District for the first program, while a panel of five alumni reflected on transitioning to careers outside of BigLaw in the second program. The clouds fortuitously cleared for Saturday’s Courtyard Picnic, where alumni and family of all ages gathered for an afternoon of food and fun.
This year, Penn Law debuted a new venue for Saturday evening’s Reunion Gala: the National Constitution Center, an institution with which the Law School shares a proud partnership. The NCC’s Grand Hall served as a magnificent setting for Reunion Weekend’s main event. Guests were treated to cocktails, music, and dinner with a spectacular view of Old City Philadelphia and Independence Hall, site of the signing of the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution.
Thank you to all who joined us on campus this May!
