Last week, we highlighted some of the different library services that students should take advantage of, one of which was our study space.   Many students choose to study in Biddle Law Library.   Now, let’s be specific about what you want and what we’ve got.

“I want quiet.”
We’ve got that. The quietest places in Biddle are on the south side of the 5th floor and in the Reserve Reading Room on the 2nd floor (across the bridge from the Circulation Desk).  If these places are not sufficiently quiet, please let us know.

“I want a place with no visual distractions.”
We have study rooms on the 4th and 5th floors. With walls on both sides, you have no visual distractions. (However, as many are double study rooms with two seats, some sound may occasionally travel from one room to the next.)  Despite the wishes of Wharton, dental, and medical students, these rooms are reserved for law students only. Keys are available at the Circulation Desk. A special reservation system is put in place each term before final exams.

“I want a place where several of us can meet for discussion.”
We have four group study rooms on the 4th and 5th floors. Each has six chairs with plenty of room for discussion. The rooms are outfitted with large-screen technology so that you can also use them to practice your multi-media presentations.

“I want a place to chat with my friends while I study.”
The Gateway area on the 2nd floor is the place for you.  This is the social place in Biddle.

“I want a comfy place where I can read and fall asleep.”
No problem!  We have some cushy chairs in the Reserve Reading Room, just for you.  They are out of the way, behind the newspaper bins, so you should be able to sleep peacefully.  We have another place with cushy chairs, but the view there may inspire you rather than put you to sleep.  It is along the east windows on the 4th and 5th floors.  There, you can not only relax, you can feast your eyes on a view of the tall buildings of Center City Philadelphia over the top of Silverman Hall.

We have plenty of other spaces to study on the perimeters on floors 3 and 4. There are also two computer labs located in Biddle –on the 2nd and 5th floors.  We try to have it all: great spaces, great resources, computers (and charging devices!), and great service.  If we don’t have what you need, please stop by the Reference Desk to let us know.
