Penn Law Team Sweeps The AIPLA Regionals

March 16, 2015

Congratulations are in order:  Under the supervision of Prof. Polk Wagner, Penn sent two teams to the Western Regional Competition of the AIPLA Giles Rich National Moot Court in Palo Alto, CA this weekend.  The Penn teams completely swept the event:

  • 3Ls Greg Manas and Brian Springer won the event overall, and won best Appellee Brief and top oral argument.
  • 3Ls Jake Hartman and Jenny Liu took second place overall, and won best Appellant Brief.

Because the top two teams from each region go to the National Finals in Washington, DC, both Penn teams will be heading to the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit in April for the National Championship round.

A couple of notes:

  1. This appears to be the first time in event history that two teams from one school have been sent to the national finals.
  2. And if memory serves correctly, this marks seven of the last eight years that Penn has won the western regional competition of this moot court.
