Penn Law is one of two winners of the Campus Building Competition of the 2015 Power Down Challenge, which is hosted by the Penn Green Campus Partnership.

The Campus Building Competition is a month-long energy reduction competition among a select group of non-residential buildings representing various schools and centers. Occupants competed to see which building could reduce its electricity use the most over the course of the competition and contribute to Penn’s energy conservation goals.

Penn Law was declared the winner in the category “percent reduction in energy use.” The Law School, in the month of February, reduced its electricity use by 4.6 percent, despite the particularly cold weather throughout the month.

The winner for the category “reduction of electricity use per square foot” was Levine Labs, which reduced its electricity use by 2 kWh per thousand square feet.

Penn Law will receive a $750 prize for winning the competition.

Winning the Power Down Challenge is not Penn Law’s only recent recognition for embracing sustainability. Last month, the Law School’s building administrator, Joseph Campbell, was named a Models of Excellence Award for his ongoing work with the Green Campus Partnership.
