Preparing Law Students for the Profession

February 10, 2015

The legal profession continues to expect more from law school graduates, including increased knowledge of the professional skills needed to excel in the profession.

Former managing partner of Morrison & Foerster’s, Michael Roster, proposes goals for making the legal education more practical. Key elements such as learning client skills, government and administrative processes, advocacy and dispute resolution, and traditional substantive law, will help law students better communicate with clients, understand modern processes, and obtain rigorous training. Given the high expectations for law students and the legal profession, graduates must have the professional skills and knowledge necessary to thrive.
