December 2014 meeting minutes for Penn Law Event Managers. 

Catering: foodwerx

  • Brian Miller introduced himself from foodwerx
  • They are available during business hours, as well as weekends and nights
  • Gluten Free, Vegan, Kosher (from Shop Rite from Cherry Hill)
  • They are a PO Vendor - under the name Hospitality Management
  • Can cater to groups small and large
  • Any questions or for orders, contact brian@foodwerks.com

Business Affairs 

  • Michelle Werner continued with last month’s theme and reinforced the need to plan ahead 
  • As soon as you know about an event, please contact any departments that need to be involved with making your event a success
  • Any caterers/hotels not direct bill, need at least 3 weeks notice. Business Affairs is no longer able to process expedited checks
  • Note: please be careful blocking hotel rooms and ensure all rooms are filled. Let Michelle know if you have any trouble blocking rooms.

    • Legal Scholarship workshops on Fridays, every other week.

  • Many large student events coming up for Spring Semester. Stay tuned

Size and scope of student events at the Law School

  • Dimitri Islam and Julie Colleluori presented on how they assist students in personal and professional development at the law school, including all student group events
  • The process starts with Julie. Students meet with her to start student groups. She also finds dates for events and books 500-600 rooms a year. Directs students to service providers such as CLE, Communications, etc.for event needs
  • Dimitri helps students with the substantive part of the planning. Works with them to make events a reality. Talks to them about the types of events they want to have. Works with students on problems, issues, counseling, advising.
