On Sunday, May 18, Penn Law hosted its graduation ceremony at the Academy of Music. The Class of 2014 Commencement Address was delivered by Lilly Ledbetter, an advocate for the civil rights of women and minorities as well as the inspiration for the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Restoration Act.
Ledbetter encouraged the graduating class in her remarks to use their legal education to serve others. “Justice isn’t found. It’s fought for. And it’s a fight that’s worth it,” said Ledbetter.
Other speakers from the event included Dean Michael A. Fitts, Harvey Levin Memorial Award for Teaching Excellence recipient Professor Tess Wilkinson-Ryan, and class speakers Rafael Calinisan LLM’14, Girmay H. Zahilay L’14, and Steven K. Stoute L’14.
