New Resource: HeinOnline’s State Statutes: A Historical Archive

May 08, 2013

The Penn Law community now has access to a new module in HeinOnline, State Statutes: A Historical Archive.

With coverage back to 1717, the archive includes superseded state statutes for all 50 states. As the editors at HeinOnline have noted, this collection “offers a valuable source of information for legal researchers and scholars to understand the thinking and conditions of the creation of historical statues.”  For the more pragmatic minded practitioner, however, this resource will permit you to identify the law as it stood on a given day, long ago, when an offense, injury, or other legal matter occured.  You can browse and search the database by state, publication title, and date. *Please note that the collection does not include current statutes.*
