Reminder: No Email From Penn Will Ask For Your Username, Password, or SSN

November 20, 2013

In recent weeks, we witnessed a sophisticated set of e-mail messages that looked very similar to legitimate messages from some Penn programs. The key difference is that the fraudulent e-mails asked for username, password, Social Security Number and other information.

Penn as a University, and Schools and Centers at Penn, will never ask you for your username, password or Social Security Number via email.

If you are unsure whether or not an email request is legitimate, please do not hesitate to reach out to us over the phone or through itshelp@law.upenn.edu.  You can also check this list of known fraudulent phishing attempts.
