Sept. 30 deadline to apply for new ACE Rule of Law & Human Rights Fellowship

August 06, 2013

Applications are being received for the 2014-15 ACE Rule of Law & Human Rights Fellowship.

Applications are currently being received for the 2014-15 ACE Rule of Law & Human Rights Fellowship, a post-graduate fellowship given annually to a Penn Law student or recent graduate pursuing an international public-interest career.

The fellowship supports a year of work with Human Rights First, a leading non-partisan legal advocacy organization with offices in New York and Washington, D.C.

Current 3Ls and alumni (up to three years out) are eligible to apply for the fellowship, which is funded by the ACE Charitable Foundation and ACE Limited General Counsel Robert Cusumano L’80. The application deadline is September 30.

The fellowship was established last year to create new pathways for students who want to pursue careers in international rule of law and human rights.

Human Rights First, where the fellowship recipient will work, is an independent advocacy and action organization that builds bipartisan coalitions and teams up with frontline activists and lawyers to tackle human rights issues around the world. Its projects range from protecting refugees and combating torture to defending persecuted minorities and stopping atrocities.

The inaugural fellowship was awarded last year to Kathleen Norland L’13, who is spending a year with Human Rights First, working primarily with its Refugee Protection Program.
