2Ls Saltiel and Wong take IP LawMeet championship

November 13, 2012

Lauren Saltiel and Christina Wong, both 2L students, are National Champions of the Intellectual Property LawMeet.

Lauren Saltiel and Christina Wong, both 2L students, are National Champions of the Intellectual Property LawMeet, which took place Nov. 8-9 at Drexel University’s Earle Mack School of Law.

The IP LawMeet is a national transactional IP “moot court,” which this year drew competitor teams from schools as far away as California. Teams spent the last two months drafting a complex license, redlining drafts from opposing counsel, and then negotiating against other teams in qualifying, semi-final and final rounds.

Saltiel and Wong, who were coached by Detkin Intellectual Property Clinic Director Cynthia Dahl, won both Best Negotiation overall and top honors for Best Draft.

Commenting on their championship performance, Dean of Students Gary Clinton said, “Penn’s stellar performance in the competition not only impressed dozens of members of the Philadelphia IP Bar, but showcased Penn as a school with a strong IP focus that values opportunities to train young lawyers eager to enter transactional practice.”
