The book was published in advance of the 150th anniversary of Yellowstone, the world’s first national park, on March 1, 2022.

Writer and former attorney Dennis Drabelle G’66, L’69 paints a vivid portrait of America’s unique contribution to the world, national parks, and the man who created a visionary blueprint for how to manage them: landscape architect Frederick Law Olmsted. As told by Drabelle, Olmsted saw parks as vital to the pursuit of happiness and wanted them to be established for everyone to enjoy.

The book was published in advance of the 150th anniversary of Yellowstone, the world’s first national park, on March 1, 2022.

Drabelle, author of two previous books, is a former Counsel to the Assistant Secretary of the Interior for Fish and Wildlife and Parks. He also was a Contributing Editor of the Washington Post Book World for more than 30 years.
