ITS will be working with each department to locate and either delete or secure sensitive data on staff PCs and network drives.  The program also involves removing old and large files from the U and G Drives, as well as cleaning up email and reviewing archive policies.

Penn Law Doodle simplifies scheduling a meeting with multiple attendees.  Instead of emailing back and forth to find a time that everyone is available, just create and circulate a Doodle poll with all possible meeting times.  Attendees can select the dates and times that are most convenient for them.

Canvas is the new Learning Management system introduced at Penn. We will be offering Canvas as an alternative to the Course Portal in the fall 2013 term. ITS is working on many fronts to make this happen. We are gearing up to provide support to the various groups that will be using the system. Training will be offered in small groups as well as on an individual basis. We will also be providing online help docs and videos. On the programming side, we are setting up synchronization scripts between Canvas and SRS so that course enrollment is automated. We are also working to integrate some of your favorite Course Portal features into Canvas. This includes Seating Charts, Media Requests, Drop/Add Lists and Classroom Recordings. Learn more about Canvas

We’re especially excited about one new feature of Exchange 2010 that will be coming in the next few weeks. We will be enabling online archiving to keep email accounts from getting too large to handle. Large email accounts cause Outlook to slow down, take longer to search, and crash more often. Online archiving will automatically move emails older than two years into an online archive that is available whenever you are connected to the Internet through Outlook for Windows and Outlook Web App.Visit the Exchange 2010 Upgrade page to stay up to date on everything you need to know.

You can even get started on a Lynda course today.
