Get Laptop Support

The Tech Center is Penn’s help desk for laptops and mobile devices, including WiFi, viruses/spyware, and software (in this list of supported products). Details can be found on the Tech Center website.

Loaner Laptops

Students can reach out to Student Intervention Services at vpul-sisteam@pobox.upenn.edu for loaner inquiries.

The loaner program is intended to cover their short-term laptop needs while they identify permanent/sustainable solution (e.g., to cover the duration of their repair, etc.). SIS typically asks students to return the loaners within 2 weeks - with some flexibility. 

 

PennKey & LawKey Accounts

Looking to Create your PennKey & LawKey? Visit the Admitted J.D. Students Site or the Admitted Grad Students Site. Incoming ML students will receive instructions on creating their LawKey/email once they have officially enrolled in the program. Office 365 Email, OneDrive , and Teams

All incoming students will receive an Microsoft 365 account that includes email, OneDrive for storing documents, and Teams for collaborating. Zoom

Licensed Zoom accounts are available for all Penn students. Host unlimited meetings for up to 300 participants. Meetings can last up to 24 hours.

Canvas LMS

Course materials and tools are available in the Canvas Learning Management System (LMS). We have detailed instructions on our Canvas page including how to login, set notification preferences, and use the various tools.

If you received a merge notification email from Canvas, please read our info on merging accounts as you may not need to take any action with this email.

How to Connect your Laptop to Wireless Internet

  1. Connect to the network called Connect to AirPennNet
  2. Open a web browser (Internet Explorer, Safari, etc.) and load neverssl.com or go to https://bit.ly/pennapn
  3. You will be redirected to the JoinNow configuration page. Follow the instructions to finish configuring your laptop.

Microsoft Office and Sophos Home Antivirus Protection

Students currently enrolled at Penn Carey Law can download and install Microsoft Office 365 ProPlus free of charge.  Students will be allowed to install Office on up to five systems or devices.  Microsoft Office 365 ProPlus includes Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and OneNote for both Mac and PC.

Note: OneDrive access is retained after graduation if set up through the Penn Carey Law license, all other Office 365 software will revert to unlicensed for alumni.

Sophos Home antivirus protection is also available free of charge to all current Penn students for their personal computers. More information and a link to download is available on Penn’s Sophos page. (Important: If you previously had Symantec Endpoint Protection installed, be sure it is fully uninstalled before downloading and installing Sophos.)

Data Security, Privacy and Backing Up

Penn+Box: Backing up your important documents and files is vital. One option is to use Penn+Box. All students receive 50GB of space.

Sophos Home Antivirus Protection: Be sure you have antivirus software installed on your computer. Sophos is available for free of charge for Penn students.

 

Printing, Copying, and Scanning

There are multi-function printers located throughout the Law school. Get more info.
