Creating Bookmarks (Anchors) in a SharePoint Web Page

You can create links that jump to another portion of the current page using a Bookmark (also known as an Anchor).

You must be in Edit Page mode to add a bookmark.

Create a Bookmark

First, you must create a bookmark for a link to jump to. Your bookmark will appear as a link on the page, but it will not take you anywhere when clicked.

  1. Position your cursor where you want to create a bookmark.
  2. Under Editing Tools on the ribbon, choose the Insert tab.
  3. Click the Link button and then choose From Address.
  4. Enter your bookmark information as shown below and click OK. The address field should only contain a # sign.

Add a Bookmark Name

  1. Click on the bookmark you created then click the Link Tools/Format that appears.
  2. Enter a name for your bookmark as shown below. Your bookmark name should start with a # sign.

Important: Leave # in the URL box.

Create A Link

Links are typically added at the top of your page and will send a user to a lower section when clicked.

  1. Position your cursor where you want to create a link.
  2. Under Editing Tools on the ribbon, choose the Insert tab.
  3. Click the Link button and then choose From Address.
  4. Enter your link information as shown below. Enter a # sign before your bookmark name.
