Clinical Students - Laptop/Mobile Device Guidance

Please see the important guidelines below for securing your laptop/mobile device. All student clinic accounts will require Multi-factor authentication (MFA). Students should only access these accounts from Outlook, Outlook for the Web, or Outlook mobile apps.

Laptop Guidelines

In order to add iManage to your laptop, please follow these guidelines:

  • Make sure your laptop is password protected
  • Make sure your virus definitions are up to date (Windows/Mac)
  • Disk encryption is recommended (Windows/Mac)
  • After the term ends, remove your clinical email account completely from your laptop.
  • All documents should be filed/stored directly in iManage. If you have to save a file to your hard drive, be sure to delete it from that location as soon as it is filed properly in iManage.
  • Notify the clinic and ITS immediately if your device is lost or stolen. We will lock your clinic email account/reset password.

Mobile Device Guidelines

Clinic students may want to download the Outlook App to add their clinic email account to their mobile device. If you add your clinic account to your mobile device, the following policies will be applied:

  • Simple passcode/PIN is setup on your device. No password expiration. (iOS/Android)
  • Device must be encrypted.
  • Device will lockout after 15 minutes of inactivity.
  • Device must not be managed by another school, employer, or organization.
  • You must use the Outlook mobile app. Native mail apps will not work. (iOS/Android)
  • Make sure your mobile OS is up to date. (iOS/Android)
  • After the term ends, remove your clinical email account completely from your mobile device.
  • All documents should be filed/stored directly in iManage. If you have to save a file to your mobile device, be sure to delete it from that location as soon as it is filed properly in iManage.
  • Notify the clinic and ITS immediately if your device is lost or stolen. We will lock your clinic email account/reset password.
