How to Update Your Faculty Profile

Faculty members can update their profile via the Law Directory.

Accessing the Update Tool

To update your faculty profile, login to the Law Directory using your LawKey username and password: https://goat.law.upenn.edu/cf/lawdirectory

Then click on the “Update My Information” link on on the lower left hand side of the page as shown in the image below:

 

 

 Now select the type of information you would like to update from the list (as shown below):

 

Curriculum Vitae 

First, navigate to the faculty update page as described above and click on the “Curriculum Vitae” link.

Your Curriculum Vitae or “CV” is attached to your profile as a PDF file. To change (or initially add it) you should click on the “Curriculum Vitae” option. A simple form allows you to upload a new PDF file (if you need any assistance in creating your PDF file, please contact ITSWeb.  

To change the file, click the “Browse” button on the dispalyed form and select the new file from its location on your computer, then click the “Update” button.

Personal Info/Photo 

First, navigate to the faculty update page as described above and click on the “Personal Information” link.

The personal info section of the faculty profile update allows you to update information such as: office location/phone/fax, your photo, home address, spouse and children, and display rules (where and when your information can be displayed) To change any of this, make the change in the form. Make sure you click the “Update” button after you have made any changes. 

Your law directory photo is a picture image that can be replaced by uploading a new one to the server. To change the file, click the link to change it in the Photo area of the form. Click the “Browse” button  and select the new file from its location on your computer, then click the “Update” button.

To update the photo that appears on your faculty profile page, please browse for and upload a new photo in the Profile Photo section. Note: please review the photo specifications before uploading. The minimum photo resolution is 256 x 256 pixels.

Courses & Research Areas 

First, navigate to the faculty update page as described above and click on the “Courses & Research Ares” link. Add or update the Courses Taught or Reasearch Areas you are involved in. Make sure you click the “Update” button after you have made any changes.  

Bio 

First, navigate to the faculty update page as described above and click on the “Bio” link.

Edit or add your (short) biography that appears by typing/editing directly in the form.  Make sure you click the “Update” button after you have made any changes.  

Expertise 

First, navigate to the faculty update page as described above and click on the “Expertise” link.

You will see a long list of possible expertise areas. Select all that are applicable from the list by clicking on the associated checkbox. Make sure you click the “Update” button after you have made any changes.  

Cross-Disciplinary 

First, navigate to the faculty update page as described above and click on the “Cross-Disciplinary” link.

You will see a long list of possible cross-disciplinary expertise areas. Select all that are applicable from the list by clicking on the associated checkbox. Make sure you click the “Update” button after you have made any changes.

 

Education 

First, navigate to the faculty update page as described above and click on the “Education” link.

You can add up to five degrees to your faculty profile (if you require additional, please contact Penn Law ITSWeb). Type in the degree, school and year for each degree on a separate line. Make sure you click the “Update” button after you have made any changes. 

Secondary Appointments 

First, navigate to the faculty update page as described above and click on the “Secondary Appointments” link.

If you have appointments to other schools, you can enter them here. Enter the position, department. and school. Make sure you click the “Update” button after you have made any changes. 

Professional Positions 

First, navigate to the faculty update page as described above and click on the “Professional Positions” link.

You can list up to 6 Professional Positions. Enter the complete position in the Position box.  You can change the order in which they are displayed by using the up and down arrows on the left hand side. Positions will be displayed on your faculty web page in order starting with the first. Make sure you click the “Update” button after you have made any changes. 

Publications/Research 

First, navigate to the faculty update page as described above and click on the “Publications/Research” link.

The publications you add to your faculty profile appear on your Penn Law Faculty Page and/or the Current & Recent Research Site. Follow the directions on the page to edit/update/delete the entries.

Professional Activities 

First, navigate to the faculty update page as described above and click on the “Professional Activities” link.

Add your professional activities to your faculty profile. Follow the directions on the professional activities page to add/update/delete the entries. Make sure you click the “Update” button after you have made any changes. 

Media Subjects 

First, navigate to the faculty update page as described above and click on the “Media Subjects” link.

You will see a long list of possible media subjects. Select all that are applicable from the list by clicking on the associated checkbox. Make sure you click the “Update” button after you have made any changes. 

Related Links 

First, navigate to the faculty update page as described above and click on the “Related Links” link.

If there are any external links (your blogs or other related pages) that you would want to include with your faculty profile, enter them into the form along with a link name. Make sure you click the “Update” button after you have made any changes. 

Assistants 

First, navigate to the faculty update page as described above and click on the “Assistants” link.

Please list any assistants you may have by entering their lawkey username (contact Penn Law ITSWeb for assistance). Make sure you click the “Update” button after you have made any changes.
