PennNet Phones - Legacy

PennNet is the legacy phone system for Penn. We are currently migrating users to the new PennFlex system. If you are still using a PennNet phone, please refer to the documentation below.

Manage your PennNet Phone

You can manage your PennNet phone settings at
http://phone.law.upenn.edu with your PennKey.

Only Polycom handsets (see right) with the Polycom logo are compatible with the PennNet phone system. All other phone requests should be directed to Facilities at facilities@law.upenn.edu.

Voicemail Setup

Set Voicemail Options and Password

You can choose to have voicemail messages delivered as an email attachment instead of or in addition to standard telephone delivery. To enable this just select Delivery Method #4 in the steps below.

  1. Log into http://phone.law.upenn.edu with your PennKey.
  2. Click Features and Voice Mail.
  3. Choose your Voice Mail Delivery Method. Most people choose option 1, 3, or 4.
  4. Set your Email Address for Voice Mail Delivery if you will be using email delivery.
  5. Enter a password in the Create New Voicemail Password section. This is not copied over from the old system.
  6. Click Submit.

Record a Greeting

Record both your away greeting and your busy greeting by following the steps below. You must set a voicemail password before recording a greeting.

  1. Dial 6-8000 on your phone.
  2. Enter your voicemail password.
  3. Press 0 and follow the prompts to record your message.

Note: To configure from offsite, you can dial 215-746-8000 and enter the last 5 digits of your phone number.

Accessing Your Voicemail by Phone

If you chose to have voicemail delivered to your telephone, dial 6-8000 on your phone and enter your password to listen. For offsite access, dial 215-746-8000 and enter the last five digits of your phone number.

Call Forwarding and Phone Settings

You can configure your phone’s forwarding through the PennNet Phone Settings website.

  1. Log into http://phone.law.upenn.edu with your PennKey.
  2. Click Features and Voice Mail.

Click on the yellow information button on the page for more information on specific features.

Scheduled Call Forwarding

Set Call Forward All to scheduled to have your phone automatically forward to another line on specific days or times.

Frequently Asked Questions

The audio quality on my phone is often poor, specifically with a “warbly” or “garbled” type of distortion. Please send us a note at itshelp@law.upenn.edu. Most audio problems can be fixed once we know about them.

When I call someone who uses a PennNet phone, how can I bypass her greeting message? Press # at anytime.

Can I do 3-way conference calls? 3-way calling is easy with the PennNet Phone — just use the Conf button that appears while you are in a call. You then enter the number of the third party, and after they answer press the Join button.

Can I transfer a call? Press the Tranf button that appears while you are in a call.
