Getting Started

Logging In

To access the Penn Law Canvas site, go to https://canvas.law.upenn.edu and enter your PennKey username and password.

IMPORTANT: A PennKey is required to log in to Canvas. If you need a PennKey, please call 215.898.2589 or email itshelp@law.upenn.edu

If you are unsure if you have a PennKey, use the Test My PennKey tool.
LawKey & PennKey: What’s the Difference?

Merging Canvas Accounts

If you have an existing Canvas account or if you enroll in a Canvas course at another University of Pennsylvania school, you will be prompted to merge your two accounts. It is recommended that you merge your accounts to centralize your data.

Navigating Canvas

Profile & Settings

Your profile and settings can be accessed and edited through the Account option in the left menu. The following steps to configure your profile and settings should be done after your initial log in and only need to be done one time.

 

Editing Your Profile

Your profile contains all of your personal information that you wish to include and is visible to other Canvas users through the People menu of your courses.

Editing Your Settings

The Settings menu allows you to edit personal information such as display name, time zone, language, and even link your Canvas profile to other social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn.

Configuring Your Notification Preferences

Notification allows you to select how and when you want to be notified of Canvas events. Notifications can be sent to any of the contact methods you configured in your profile’s Settings menu.
