Transitioning from Windows Live to Office 365
- Penn Law ITS strongly recommends that alums using Windows Live transition to their new Alumni Office 365 Account as soon as possible.
- Your @alumni.law.upenn.edu email address is being retired.
- You have a new @pennlaw.upenn.edu address/account hosted in Office 365.
- You may be able to transfer your existing mail from Windows Live to your new Office 365 Outlook account.
Retiring @alumni.law.upenn.edu and Moving from Windows Live
The Windows Live service, previously offered by Microsoft to Penn Law students and alumni, is no longer supported. We will begin forwarding mail for your @alumni.law.upenn.edu address to your new @pennlaw.upenn.edu address on August 1, 2016. (Note: if you would like to begin forwarding mail sent to your @alumni.law.upenn.edu address to your new address before August 1, 2016, please contact email@example.com.)
Your existing @alumni.law.upenn.edu address will be retired on August 1, 2017. After August 1, 2017, email sent to your @alumni.law.upenn.edu address will be returned to the sender with an error message. The error message will include your new address.
New Alumni Email Account and Address
We are offering a new service, an Office 365 Outlook account that includes email and calendaring. Your address with this service is [lawkey]@pennlaw.upenn.edu.
You will be able to access your Office 365 email account via the Outlook Web App at https://outlook.office365.com. Login using your new email address (@pennlaw.upenn.edu) and your LawKey password. If you forgot your LawKey password, you can reset it using our Get LawKey Tool. An activation link and password reset code will automatically be sent to your alumni.law.upenn.edu email address.

If you can’t access your @alumni.upenn.edu email address and need to reset your LawKey password, then please use our Reset LawKey Tool. To reset your LawKey password, you will need to know your PennKey credentials. Please follow this link if you do not remember your PennKey credenitals : I forgot my PennKey Username/Password.
By default, your new @pennlaw.upenn.edu account will not contain any of the messages sent to your @alumni.law.upenn.edu account. We will begin forwarding mail for your @alumni.law.upenn.edu address to your new @pennlaw.upenn.edu address on August 1, 2016. (Note: if you would like to begin forwarding mail sent to your @alumni.law.upenn.edu address to your new address before August 1, 2016, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org.)
Transferring Email Between Accounts
If you would like to connect the mail from your Windows Live account to your new @pennlaw.upenn.edu account, please follow the instructions at Connect email accounts in Outlook on the web (Office 365).
In some cases, alumni have reported that that are unable to log in to their Windows Live accounts. If this happens to you, please follow these steps: Adding an alias to your Microsoft email account.
