Sozi Pedro Tulante

Sozi Pedro Tulante is a partner at Dechert LLP, where his practice focuses on trial work, government investigations and compliance, and products liability. As Philadelphia City Solicitor from 2016 to 2018, Mr. Tulante led an office of over 200 attorneys that handled all legal matters for the City and created an affirmative litigation team that brought and defended some of the most prominent civil cases in the country across an array of industries, including banking, commerce, and food and beverage. As City Solicitor, he personally litigated, at the request of the Mayor, some of the most high-profile cases in state and federal court, including the successful lawsuit upholding Philadelphia’s sanctuary city status, and was also involved in sensitive investigations. Before joining the City, he spent over five years as an Assistant U.S. Attorney in the Criminal Division of the Eastern Office in Philadelphia investigating and prosecuting white-collar and narcotics cases.

Mr. Tulante’s innovative and impactful legal work has been repeatedly recognized recently including by the Legal Intelligencer (as one of three finalists for “Attorney of the Year”); the Philadelphia Inquirer (as one of  “25 Legal Influencers”); Philadelphia Magazine (as the only practicing lawyer among one of the “100 Most Influential Philadelphians”); and the Philadelphia Business Journal (“Best of the Bar”). A refugee who moved to Philadelphia from the Democratic Republic of Congo at a young age, he went to Philadelphia public schools, then won scholarships to Harvard College and Harvard Law School, where he graduated with honors, before ultimately clerking for the Honorable Reginald C. Lindsay in federal court in Boston.
