Seema Saifee

Seema Saifee researches and writes in the fields of criminal law and constitutional criminal procedure.  Her current research focuses on the role of oppression and social isolation in the production of knowledge, and the ways in which people in prison generate legal and social change in a carceral state.  Her academic work draws on her experience as a staff attorney at the Innocence Project, where she represented indigent clients in post-conviction criminal cases, and her experience representing several ethnic Uighur men imprisoned indefinitely without charge in Guantánamo Bay, Cuba.  Seema clerked for Judge Dan A. Polster in the Northern District of Ohio.
