Marc Zand is a unique executive who combines a mix of technological savvy, business negotiation proficiency and a collaborative leadership style to navigate entertainment companies through the multifaceted media world we operate in today. Having overseen Programming, Sales/Distribution, Corporate Development, Emerging Networks, Digital Media and Business & Legal Affairs at both traditional and new media companies, Mr. Zand has consistently built shareholder value across a diverse spectrum of entertainment properties on a global basis.
ION Media Networks is owner of the largest U.S. broadcast television station group and the ION Television Network, which reaches 100 million U.S. television households. Zand presently oversees all Program Content matters for ION and has been instrumental in ION Television’s aggressive acquisition of off-network series, including Criminal Minds, Blue Bloods, Law & Order: SVU, Law & Order, CSI, NCIS: LA and Cold Case, leading ION to a top-10 cable network ranking and tripling its ratings over the last five years. Marc has also spearheaded the company’s most recent original programming activities, including the well-received Private Eyes and Saving Hope series, as well as ION’s popular annual original holiday movie offerings. Additionally, using the company’s nationwide digital broadcast assets, Zand has extended ION Media’s digital offering in the creation of Qubo Animation Channel, which promotes literacy and positive values for children, and ION Life Channel, which is devoted to active living and personal growth.
Before joining ION Media Networks, he held a similar position with ABC Family (ABC/Disney) as its Senior Vice President of Business & Legal Affairs. Prior to turning his focus to the U.S. media industry, Mr. Zand served a Senior Vice President of Business Affairs with the Cisneros Group of Companies, where he led the negotiations for the creation/acquisition and launching of twelve (12) television channels and other multimedia enterprises across Latin America. As Senior Vice President of Business Affairs & Development for Playboy TV International, Mr. Zand is credited with the launching of the Playboy channel in over 30 new territories, making Playboy the world’s leading adult television brand available in over 60 countries. Before joining Cisneros Group, Marc held various Business Affairs positions at Spelling Entertainment/Worldvision Enterprises and Myriad Pictures.
Marc holds a BS in Political Science from the University of Virginia and received his JD from the University of Pennsylvania Carey Law School. Marc lives in Miami with his wife Tracy, 20 year old son Zack and 18 year old daughter Daisy.
