Steve Lee is a Deputy General Counsel at Comcast Corporation responsible for overseeing various government investigations relating to Comcast, including inquiries from federal agencies, such as the Department of Justice, the Securities and Exchange Commission, and the Federal Trade Commission, and various State Attorneys General.
Mr. Lee had previously been nominated by the Governor of New Jersey and unanimously confirmed by the New Jersey State Senate to serve as the Director of the New Jersey Division of Consumer Affairs. The New Jersey Division of Consumer Affairs is a state law enforcement and regulatory agency made up of approximately 600 employees, and includes the Office of Consumer Protection, the New Jersey Bureau of Securities, the New Jersey Prescription Monitoring Program, and 47 professional boards, which regulate more than 80 professions and occupations. In this role, Mr. Lee led various state and multi-state investigations relating to complex commercial fraud, securities fraud, cyber fraud and privacy, and also led efforts to reduce red-tape in professional licensure, strengthen standards for and implementation of professional discipline by the professional boards, and prevent improper distribution and abuse of opiates and other dangerous narcotics.
For approximately nine years, Mr. Lee also worked as an Assistant United States Attorney at the United States Attorney’s Office in the Southern District of New York, where he was a member of the Securities & Commodities Fraud Task Force, the Public Corruption Unit, and the Organized Crime Unit, investigating and prosecuting a variety of federal criminal cases. These cases included high-profile insider trading and market manipulation matters, investigations and prosecutions of various public officials, and the prosecution of members of La Cosa Nostra and other organized crime groups.
Mr. Lee was previously a law clerk to the Honorable Barbara S. Jones, United States District Court Judge for the Southern District of New York, and is a graduate of Bowdoin College and Harvard Law School.
