Aaron McKenney

Aaron McKenney serves as the Associate General Counsel for McKenna & Associates, LLC, providing legal counsel to the firm and assisting on all regulatory and compliance work. He makes contributions across the advisory and capital divisions of the firm, sharing insights on strategy, execution, and investment opportunities.

Aaron previously worked as an Associate at Cooley LLP, where his legal practice focused on advising and supporting clients through various business transactions, including venture capital financings, capital market sales, regulatory filings, and merger and acquisitions. Aaron worked on varied projects with particular emphasis in the technology, healthcare, and security industries.

Aaron is a Lieutenant Colonel in the US Army Reserve. As a Special Forces officer, a “Green Beret”, Aaron has served in various tactical, operational, and strategic roles. These include assignments as an Innovation City Team Leader and Operations Officer in the Army Reserve and as a Special Forces Operational Detachment Alpha Commander (Underwater Operations), a Company Executive Officer, and an Infantry Rifle Platoon Leader while on Active Duty. Aaron’s overseas deployments include Operation Iraqi Freedom, Operation Inherent Resolve, and a Counter Narco-Terrorism training mission.

Aaron holds a JD from the University of Pennsylvania Carey Law School, an MBA from The Wharton School, and a BS from the United States Military Academy at West Point. Aaron completed an internship at the United States Attorney’s Office (Eastern District of Pennsylvania) as provides support to disabled veterans as an accredited attorney with the Department of Veterans Affairs. Aaron is an avid outdoorsman, and an Eagle Scout, Karate Black Belt, and Religious Education Catechist. Aaron resides in Ashburn, Virginia with his wife, Amy, and two sons.
